"Three generations of Taylor leadership and dedication"

Equipment that is dependable and meets the specific needs of the customer -- these are the objectives which engineering and manufacturing craftsmen at Taylor Machine Works have worked to achieve since it was founded by W.A. Taylor, Sr. in 1927 in the red hills of east central Mississippi.

When "Alec" Taylor established the machining and repair shop that would become Taylor Machine Works, he hung a sign advising customers, "We engineer and build what you need." This commitment to each customer to meet his specific needs remains at the core of the Taylor Group of companies. The founder's personal belief in three key by-words, FAITH - VISION - WORK, remains at the heart of business operations of the organization he established.

Today, Taylor Machine Works remains as the focal point of the entire Taylor Group that also includes Sudden Service, Inc., Taylor Power Systems, and Taylor Leasing. The worldwide operations of the organization continue to be based in Louisville, Mississippi, where W.A. Taylor, Sr. established the company.

The company remains a family owned and operated organization. In 1968, the founder's son, W. A. "Bill" Taylor, Jr. became president and chairman of the board of directors. Bill Taylor 's visionary leadership was the driving force that made the Taylor product line the respected leader in the Heavy duty Industrial lift truck market. Under his tenure The Taylor Group, Inc. was established . In 1987, the third Taylor generation assumed management of the organization when W.A. "Lex" Taylor III became president. In 1992, Lex Taylor also assumed the presidency of The Taylor Group, Inc.

Bill Taylor's son and daughter, Robert D. Taylor and Teresa Taylor Ktsanes also have active management roles in the company. Robert Taylor is president of Sudden Service, Inc. and vice-president of operations for Taylor Machine Works. Teresa Taylor Ktsanes is vice-president of Sudden Service, Inc. and general manager of corporate public relations and show promotions. Many other members of the extended Taylor family also fill key positions in the organization.

For over 80 years, the small machine and repair shop in Louisville has become a world-wide operation with sales driven by the professional and aggressive activities of a vast domestic dealer sales, direct sales, and international sales organization. Taylor Machine Works designs, engineers, and manufactures more than 100 models of industrial lift equipment with lift capacities between 16,000 pounds and 120,000 pounds.

Sudden Service, Inc. provides customer oriented after-market sales and service support for Taylor customers through four factory stores in the southeastern United States and a dealer organization reaching across North America and around the world. Taylor Power Systems designs and manufactures prime-power and stand-by generators both in mobile units and stationary generators. Taylor Power supplies generators to industries such as agriculture, public utilities, and telecommunications. Taylor Leasing provides financial services to customers of The Taylor Group companies.

From a small machine shop in 1927 to a world-wide organization with state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing resources, Taylor Machine Works has grown to become one of the United States' outstanding business success stories. At the very center of this success has been an unwavering commitment to the key concepts of FAITH - VISION - WORK by the members of the Taylor family and employees who collectively form THE BIG RED TEAM!

Taylor Machine Works is very proud of its heritage. Below is a poem written by the founder of Taylor Machine Works, W.A. Taylor Sr., to the senior staff in 1967. Showing the dedication Taylor has to its customers, the poem has been sent to the senior staff for three generations to reaffirm the values that built the Taylor spirit.

"BY THEIR FRUITS YE SHALL KNOW THEM" By W.A. Taylor Sr.
